The American Library Association (ALA) Washington Office is providing beneficial information for the library community in regards to stimulus funding. There is a new document, a web page and a webinar coming soon. Look to these resources to help you wade through the alphabet soup of ARRA, BTOP, PCC, etc.!
A comprehensive document, Public Computer Center Funding Category and Library Proposals, provides library-specific examples that could be used for applicants from the library community for the Public Computer Center (PCC) funding category of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). The document contains more details, including the overall BTOP objectives and 6 Sample Library Community Public Computer Center Projects:
1. Regional Library Consortium
2. Library Job Center
3. Library Small Business Center
4. Serving Users with Disabilities
5. Technology Training for Users
6. Upgrades to Network Hardware
Visit ALA's Know Your Stimulus web page for much more information on BTOP, including a short screencast detailing potential areas for library funding available in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
There is also a webinar scheduled for August 5th, Nuts and Bolts - Broadband Grant Application Assistance, which will include general information as well as a Q & A session with experts. Register online.
